#3205 So, where are all the Transit-based campers?

Posted by Barrett on 04 December 2014 - 11:48 PM

Take a look at the many Sprinter Mobile Home conversions out there - very successful campers for a small family. The Transit is about the same size. You can bet that Sportsmobile and others are already working on one.
My plan is to use a Transit or Sprinter for a DIY conversion.

Transit conversions are the norm in Europe and they are excellent for the job. I'd expect to see a lot of them in North America within the next few years too.

#2509 Cleaning wax around emblems

Posted by jack on 19 November 2013 - 10:14 PM

I take a popsicle stick and wrap a terry around it. That way, it strong enough to get around the edges, but doesn't scratch or mar anything.

#1996 Pretty Cool Transit Video on YouTube

Posted by ConnectFan on 26 July 2012 - 03:47 PM

Hello there fellow Transit aficionados!

I just found this video on Youtube about a transit converted into a small RV. Looks pretty neat. Figured I would share.

Its called the "Crazy Teeny Tiny Diy Ford Transit Connect Camper RV Conversion"

I've had my Transit for a little over a year and would love to get something like this on for camping or something. Seems like it can be taken back out fairly simple. I also like the big orange box. Good place to secure things while hiking or away from the vehicle for a long period of time.

#1857 Anybody in the U.S. Researching Transit?

Posted by iamsuperdan on 24 November 2011 - 03:22 PM

I have!

I do new vehicle leasing, and currently lease out a ton of the GM full size vans, and am starting to do quite a few of the new Nissan NV vans. The current Ford E-series is an old, dated design that drives old, looks old, and feels old. So when we learn about the possibility of a new Ford, I definitely take notice!

I'm hoping for diesel options, rear wheel drive, cargo and passenger options with both standard and high roof, standard and long wheelbase, as well as a double cab version.

#1774 So, where are all the Transit-based campers?

Posted by David on 10 September 2014 - 11:11 AM

I realize the big Transit is new to North America, but surely there are lots of RV conversions in Europe and elsewhere? I would like to see pictures of what others have done with this vehicle.
I plan to do a complete mini-motorhome conversion, probably on a short wheelbase, low or mid-roof version.
Anyone willing to show us what you have?

#1630 Strange noise from my van when ignition turned off?

Posted by big_joness on 20 June 2014 - 09:17 AM

I have been advised it is likely to be the EGR valve self cleaning. So for £3.50 I bought a blanking plate off ebay and will fit it and report back. Yes it will cause the ECU to flash up a light on the dashboard, however, by giving the van a ECU remap it can be deleted from the system and made to run more efficiantly. When it's finished I will let you know if it solved my issue.

#1626 Strange noise from my van when ignition turned off?

Could be emmission controls cycling, I have a 2010 Sprinter that makes noises like the Willy Wonka chocolate factory when I shut it down.
