2022 Ford Transit battery question

My neighbor is 60 yo, he got this 2022 Ford Transit with two batteries that keep dying because he doesn't drive it often enough.

He tried a trickle charger under the hood, but it's super slow. Ford support wasn't helpful at all.

The problem is that the two batteries do not receive enough driving to charge them, and there are slow charging options. The house battery is almost dead, and the starter battery is low.

I'm going to help him by charging both, then using solar chargers plugged into cigarette lighter adapters to keep them topped up, along with the van's alternator when driving.

I want to charge the batteries much faster, can someone here tell me how to do this? My neighbor doesn't like to wait too long, especially since the batteries are under the seat and hard to get to.

That's nice of you to help your neighbor! a regular battery charger straight to the under seat batteries will charge way faster. i think solar through the lighter is probably too weak? Once it;s charged, the van's alternator should keep them going with some driving

Wow. Rarely do I see kind hearts nowadays (and genuine ones at that). If you want faster charging, skip the trickle and hook up a proper smart charger directly to each battery with the seat tilted.

Use a quality smart charger with a higher amperage output and connect it directly to the batteries using extension leads if needed.
Many folks will connect to the jump points under the hood for the starter battery, and for the house battery, you might find an auxiliary post or just need to carefully access it directly.
Just also make sure to set it for the correct battery type!

Use a smart charger directly on each battery for faster charging best done by removing the seat for full access then install SAE leads for easier future charging then regarding the solar, wire directly to the batteries with a controller, the lighter socket may not stay live
