I just remember reading a recall thing that popped up for our vehicle under vin lookup and Im just wondering since I havent gotten news about any other recalls or of some sort lately. Anybody got info on this? This was the the recall notice I got last year.

This was dated August 09,2024

"Manufacturer recall #24S48
NHTSA recall #24V591
Recall StatusRecall Incomplete, remedy not yet available
Summary:
ON YOUR VEHICLE, IT MAY BE POSSIBLE FOR THE BOLT SECURING THE STEERING COLUMN TO THE STEERING GEAR PINION SHAFT TO LACK FULL THREAD ENGAGEMENT.

Safety Risk:

THE BOLT SECURING THE NEW STEERING COLUMN TO THE STEERING GEAR PINION SHAFT MAY LOOSEN OVER TIME AND MAY DISENGAGE. IF THE BOLT DISENGAGES, THE STEERING COLUMN MAY SEPARATE FROM THE PINION SHAFT, RESULTING IN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy:

WHEN PARTS ARE AVAILABLE, FORD MOTOR COMPANY WILL SEND A LETTER TO INFORM YOU THAT PARTS ARE AVAILABLE AND TO CONTACT YOUR DEALER TO SCHEDULE A REPAIR. FORD HAS NOT ISSUED INSTRUCTIONS TO STOP DRIVING YOUR VEHICLE UNDER THIS SAFETY RECALL. WHEN PARTS ARE AVAILABLE, YOU SHOULD CONTACT YOUR DEALER FOR AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE YOUR VEHICLE REMEDIED AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE."

Ugh, yeah I remember that one. the steering column bolt recall. It's serious, like loss of steering serious but they've been dragging their feet with the fix. remedy is not yet available became their favorite

Has anyone in the Chicago area heard any updates on when they might actually have the parts for this fix? Maybe someone's local dealer has some inside scoop...

Hey, it looks like you'll just have to hang tight until Ford tells you when the parts are in. No need to do anything for now. I know, it's a bummer.
