Tirque converter vibrations?

The previous owner seems like he's in a hurry to get rid of his 2017 transit, which is good news for me because it's cheap. He says that the reason why he's selling it is because there's a problem with the torque converter causing vibrations. This seems a bit weird, but I'm willing to accept if other owners can confirm that's the issue. I already have an idea of where to get a replacement one, but I wanted to double check if that really is the case or if he's trying to play me

ha lol stumbled onto a sweet deal, torque converter causing vibes isn't unheard of in the transit world especially if it's got the 6 speed auto, it shudders mostly at low speeds or when shifting, that's a pretty classic sign. But hey, for the right price and if you've got a line on a replacement, I'd say go for it but make sure it's not masking something worse like engine mounts or tranny issues. Good luck, and welcome to the transit tinker club ha

I agree with them I think it could be the torque converter, but you might also wanna check the driveshaft and mounts just to be sure.

Yes, that's a common story with the 2017 and it's definitely plausible that's the reason he's selling it cheap.
Before you commit, ask for service records.
If he's being upfront, he should have documentation of the issue or at least a general maintenance history.
And if you're confident about where to get a replacement, and the price is right, it could be a good deal.
Just make sure to factor in the cost of the repair when you're considering the total price.

Let's say it is the torque converter, I'm guessing this means a full replacement. Is something like this worth the hassle or should I look for something different?
