Making the cargo light stay on

My good buddy got the same Transit as me, he likes to work in the back of his car at night. He’s working in the dark, so he uses the cargo lights to see. But you know, it turn off every 30 seconds.

He hits the key FOB to unlock or lock the doors and to restart the lights. Does anyone here know how to make the rear cargo light stay on for a longer time?

Your friend can use OBD 2 with Forscan to change the body control module setting. he should be looking at Battery saver or Cargo lamp timeout and extend or disable it.

maybe he can look into adding a manual switch that will keep the lights on for as long as he wants?

I was in a similar situation before!
I got a Nilight 12V LED Interior Light Bar!
It comes with its own on/off switch so I can control the light duration independently.
I've had for a few months now, no problem so far!
It's pretty bright and it consumes low power!
It needs to be properly fused to the van's electrical system so I had to get some technical help.

Yeah, that's a pretty common issue with Transit vans. Some models actualy have the option to adjust the cargo light timer in the settings, but if yours doesn't, the simplest solution is to wire in a manual switch or just get a nice rechargeable LED work light. That's what I did in mine, and it's way better

Yep, it's a known thing. A simple switch or a rechargeable LED usually does the trick. I've seen it work just fine.
