Stopping Gear Selector Slip-ups on 2023 Transit 250 V6

My wife drives our 2023 Transit 250 with a V6 engine. She keeps accidentally pushing the gear selector past Drive and into Manual mode when leaving parking lots. This makes the engine rev up super high and could wreck it. I almost did the same thing last week because it's so easy to mess up. Has anyone figured out a way to stop this? I'm thinking about asking the dealer if they can tweak the settings to get rid of Manual mode completely since we don't need it. Any ideas?
