Just got word that my 2024 Transit Ecoboost just finished production, but won't reach the dealer for about 3 months, is this normal? I feel like the wait is too excessive. Is there a simple yet sensible explanation on this?

It's normal, unfortunately. Ford builds fast but they're kinda slow when it comes to shipping. I guess you can just say, your Transit is in transit. LOL.

Hope your dealer updated you on the progress. knowing where it is will def ease the wait time, well for me at least, if it happens to me. enjoy your new Transit once it arrives!

Been there. When I ordered my '22 Ranger, the production wrapped up in early March, but it didn't actually make it to the dealer until late May. I found out that Ford holds completed vehicles at staging lots for things like software updates, emissions tests, or rail scheduling before they ship them out. Mine ended up sitting in a rail yard for weeks. It's definitely frustrating, but it sounds like your Transit is just in transit... quite literally. The tracking updates from the dealer really helped me stay sane during that time. Just hang in there, it'll be worth the wait

Lol, once it leaves the factory, the van might sit in a holding yard for weeks waiting for rail transport if it's coming from the Kansas city plant. From there, it goes by train, then often switches to a truck for final delivery, so any backlog, rail car shortage, or routing hiccup can easily stretch it to 8 to 12 weeks
